Ivailo Tournev

Prof. Ivailo Tournev is the Head of the Clinic of Nervous Diseases in University Hospital Aleksandrovska in Sofia. He is a Professor of Neurology in the Department of Neurology at Sofia Medical University and in the Department of Cognitive Science and Psychology at New Bulgarian University. He is a Chairman of the Bulgarian Neuromuscular Disorders Society and Expert Center of Genetic Neurological and Metabolic Diseases in Sofia. In 2000 he specialized in the Institute of Myology “Babinski” in Paris and in 2004 he was an academic visitor at Oxford University, John Radcliffe. Prof. Tournev is a principal investigator of 65 research projects and a team leader of 45 social projects. He has research interests in the field of neuromuscular disorders and neurogenetics. He has published 405 original research articles, 193 of them in international journals.
