Meryem Tuba Sönmez

Dr. Meryem Tuba Sönmez is a neurologist currently working at Ankara Etlik City Hospital, Türkiye, where she is actively involved in the Multiple Sclerosis outpatient clinic. She completed her neurology residency at Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, Department of Neurology. During her residency training, she developed a particular interest in neuroimmunological and neurogenetic disorders and later worked as a research fellow in the laboratory of Prof. James R. Lupski at Baylor College of Medicine, where she contributed to research on hereditary neuropathies and genomic medicine.

Her main clinical and academic interests include multiple sclerosis, MOG antibody-associated disease (MOGAD), neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders (NMOSD), neuro-ophthalmology, neurogenetics, and rare neuroimmunological diseases. She is engaged in clinical and translational research in neuroimmunology, neuro-ophthalmology, and artificial intelligence applications in neurology, and collaborates in multidisciplinary projects in these fields.
